Ten used car red flags to spot before you hand over money
You can catch a surprising amount in ten minutes in a parking lot. You cannot catch everything — that is what the inspection is for.

The ten flags
1) Mismatched paint texture or overspray on trim. 2) Uneven panel gaps. 3) Fresh undercoating hiding rust or a leak. 4) A recently cleared check engine light with pending codes. 5) Milky or sludgy oil. 6) Coolant that smells like exhaust. 7) Uneven tire wear pointing at suspension or frame issues. 8) A title history that does not match the seller's story. 9) A seller who refuses an inspection. 10) A price well under market with no explanation.
Number nine is the loudest one. Honest sellers welcome an inspection because it closes the deal faster.
